Home Sweet Home...

In 2006, before we got married, we extensively searched for a place to call home.  We looked at TONS of houses.  After many months of searching, we put an offer on a house in the next town over from where we currenty live.  It was cute, had a new kitchen, decent sized yard, in a small neighborhood.  (Looking back, thank goodness we didn't get it...) During the process of a counter-offer, my Uncle called to say that one of his realtor contacts had a house not far from our hometown that would be going on the market.  We decided to check it out and were lucky enough to get in before it was ever publicly listed.  I went to take a look one night after work without Chris and wasn't thrilled.  A few days later he came back with me and although we didn't fall in love immediately, it wasn't an absolute "no."  Well, with lots of potential it grew on us, and within about a week we had an offer in and were under negotiation with the seller.  We signed the P&S in April 2006 and closed on July 7, 2006 (Happy 4th Home Anniversary to us!).

To give you a brief description, our home is a 1927 craftsman/colonial on a large lot.  It had LOTS of potential...plenty of room, several porches, and a big yard.  It needed a lot of TLC though - the kitchen was liveable but AWFUL (Not exaggerating! Those of you who saw it pre-remodel know what I'm talking about!), the master bath had been gutted & semi-roughed but otherwise was non-existent, and every room had a door on it - the layout was not very open and there was a lot of dark wood & beadboard (LOVE beadboard, but WHITE & BRIGHT!).  It was a big project to take on, but we didn't mind a fixer-upper and knew we could make it our own.

We have come a LONG way over 4 years.  My hubby/electrician/handyman has done amazing work and I've done all of the decorating myself.  Bathroom remodel, taking walls down, refinishing the original wood floors, kitchen remodel, among many other smaller projects & lots of painting...and it FINALLY feels like it's truly ours and reflects us.

As you'll notice, I've added a few pics of our pad on the right sidebar.  Over time, I will share several "room reveals" and before & after pictures with you.  Stay tuned!
