Pallette Art

I have seen a zillion things made from old shipping pallettes ~ entire walls, shelves, frames ~ and when I saw this gem on Pinterest I knew I had to recreate it for the nursery (I don't know who to credit so if anyone does please let me know so I can give props)...

I showed my hubby as I knew I'd need his help as my handyman and he was up for the challenge.  Our neighbors have a huge burn pile so we walked out back on day and scored this beauty...

I chose a dark walnut stain because the crib is a dark color and I wanted to try and balance it across the room with something else dark...

Next was a free-hand heart cutout from cardboard that I could trace onto the pallette; and I already had plenty of pink paint to use for color...

Then it was up to the best handyman EVER to hang this beast...

And here you have the final piece...

I love how it turned out.  Thanks for helping me tackle this project handy hubby!  ily

Pretty "Lor"...

I've been pretty down in the dumps with this anxiety stuff so my boys brought me home some fresh flowers yesterday..."lor" as Bentley calls them...

Thanks boys, ily.

Babe's Clothes...

I've been doing a lil shopping for Baby Girl and here are some of the gems I've picked up...

I came across these next gems on Etsy and once I realized they had toddler tshirts in addition to onesies I was SOLD...now the kids can match in their bulldogge bum scratching onesies... ;)

Thanks, Grammy!

Grammy came over to "help"...she did it all...line the drawers in the two dressers, and then I got all of the babes clothes put away...

While Grammy worked hard, Bentley enjoyed himself...

He was all over the place but so well behaved as usual!

I'm on Project Nursery's Blog...

There is an adorable blog called Project Nursery which has Baby Girl's nursery featured in their Project Gallery.  It went up yesterday afternoon and already has over 700 views and a 4.5 out of 5 rating!!!  (And they aren't all from me, LOL)  YAY!!  Check it out here.

I've also loaded a few pictures to Pinterest and some RANDOM people, not friends, have liked and repinned mostly the gradient pink dresser.  Exciting stuff.  I know - you're like "who cares" BUT I am very excited to have random people viewing & liking my work!!

That's all for now ~ off to line dresser drawers with Mum and put baby clothes away!

Nursery Time!!

Here is the BIG REVEAL!  After all of my hubby's hard work last night to help me finish up, the nursery is pretty much DONE.  There are a few odds & ends, and organizational "stuff" I need to do but for the most part it is finished.  There is one special piece of artwork we are going to make for above the dresser/changing table, but otherwise HERE SHE IS...

For anyone interested in how it came together, here you go:
- The crib I purchased new ~ loved the dark color and modern lines; I reused Bentley's Serena & Lily crib sheets because they are such good quality and I was getting him new "boyish" ones anyways.
- The bed was already in there since this room functioned as a guest space before ~ we do still have company stay over sometimes so since it could fit in the space I really wanted to keep it.
- Pillows were a mix of a couple of older pillows I had from the guest room and a cute vintage ditty my friend found at a consignment store for $3.
- The dressers as you know I did myself.  The taller one was a freebee and the longer one with the changing pad was only $75 on Craigslist - a score for the quality.  A little TLC and they are brand spankin' new.
- I reused Bentley's modern gray nursery chair and West Elm pouf.
- The wooden "end table" chair came with our house and I repainted it a very soft green.
- Against my electrician's advice I REALLY wanted a chandelier - in white - so I got this small 15" gem for $74 at Overstock and its pretty, white, and has crystals.
- I really wanted tissue poms in Bentley's room but I had to agree with Hubby that they were a little too girly - so I went pom crazy in here care of Fiesta Pom Pom on Etsy.
- The art is a mix of some prints I purchased on Etsy and some self-made stuff.  I got ambitious one night and hit A.C. Moore for canvases and acrylics, then I went to town.  I'm no Jackson Pollock but it does the job for me...

So, there you have it.  A mix of a lot of items I already had and a lot of DIY.  I'm really happy with the turnout.  Whaddya think?!

THANK YOU, HUBBY!

I have the best Hubby in the world!  Yesterday after work he promised to help finish up some "things" in the new baby's room and boy did he deliver.  And it was no short list.  He switched out the electrical outlets to update them to white, hung the chandelier ~ and even put the crystals on it, hung all of my tissue poms from the ceiling, hung artwork and a mirror, and last but not least hung the blinds on the windows.  THANK YOU, CHRISTOPHER!!!!! Bentley, Baby Girl, and I really appreciate it.  You are the best Hubby & Daddy there is!
