The Weekend...

On Friday we had a fun playdate at Auntie Kristin & Uncle Joey's with Bentley's cousins, Baby Logan, and Bentley's new little friend Nathaniel...

On Saturday Bentley hung out with Daddy for awhile while I did some cleaning up around the house.  This is what happens when Daddy is in charge...burning the trash and a nice cool PBR to help soothe the little guy's gums...

And we had a long yet fun night with friends Saturday night. Bentley got TONS of TLC and really liked hanging out with everyone!  He got a little cough over the weekend so I took him to the Drs. this morning and they said maybe a smidge of a cold mixed with teething symptoms ~ I guess when babies cut teeth they get extra mucus which can cause a cough, too.  So a teensy smidge of a cold mixed with his upper teeth coming in, but he'll be fine!

Put a sock in it!

I JUST wanted to grab a quick bite to eat so I put Bentley in his little chair and went into the kitchen for a few to make my morning smoothie.  He really likes pulling his socks off lately and I guess has found a new place for them...

LOL!!!!

Mum Mums?

I am learning with this "solid food" thing and have been proceeding with caution ~ a week worth of one veggie at a time, then we'll move to fruits, and then I think we can start mixing some things up...I will be consulting his Aunties as the time comes. ;)  BUT, he is clearly teething so I grabbed some organic Baby Mum Mums - these rice husk cracker things that he can suck on, chew a little, and they basically dissolve.  Anywho, I had no idea what to expect...he went in for the kill right away...

Looked like it was the most awful thing he's ever experienced and even gagged a few times...

But still got really into it, gnawing away and he took one down in no time...even though he kept looking really unsure!

We ended with a mess as usual!

At least he got to practice feeding himself and it was certainly entertaining!

P.S. I still don't understand why it's referred to as "solid" food when there is nothing solid about it ~ he's eating mush!!!

Swim, Baby, Swim!!

Big happenings today - Bentley had his first swimming class, and he looked darn good doing it thanks to his new bathing suit from Auntie Kristin & Uncle Joey.  If you can't tell in the pics or couldn't guess from the rest of his wardrobe/accessories, it has skulls of course ~ but these ones are little fishbones...

Clearly excited & ready to go...we are so spoiled with how happy this kid is!

He didn't mind the pool - and it was heated, BONUS!  A couple of times he got a little fussy, I think he was overwhelmed because it was very loud, but overall he did SO great.  I thought he would splash a little more because he usually goes bananas in his tubby but this was very different for him of course.  He liked looking around, was very calm in the water for the most part, and really liked the noodle!  And he looked DAMN good in his little bathing suit.  He's already sporting shoulders like his Daddy. ;)

We got all dried off & bundled up after 45 minutes in the water...

He didn't last for long once he hit his carseat...

He had some serious pool hair when he woke up...

Looking forward to next week ~ he had fun swimming with his cousins, Auntie, and DeDe, & Grammy came to watch, too!

Missoni

I love Missoni - LOVE LOVE LOVE Missoni prints.  I love it on Nicole Richie, who frequently rocks the designer looks:

I would LOVE anything Missoni on myself if it wasn't so G.D. expensive.  I am a scarf whore and would LOVE to have this Missoni scarf in my FAV color (this lil number is actually affordable)...

I am always poking around Etsy for vintage designer pieces and I had scored a beautiful silk Missoni scarf last year, which I tied onto my purse for a pop of color.  Well, some lucky person at my local Target scored bigtime because it fell off in the parking lot.  BOOOO.  :(  You can find some authentic Missoni pieces though.  This vintage Missoni dress from the Etsy shop Fabuka...

And this vintage Missoni purse also from Fabuka...

I recently found this shop on Etsy called OLA Collection that makes Missoni Versatility Scarves - multi-function scarves from Missoni fabrics, and unlike 99% of other Missoni pieces you won't have to re-mortgage your house...and they come in tons of pretty Missoni fabrics & colors...

Missoni also has a home division and if I hit the lottery I would cover my house with their home designs.  Everything from bedding to throw pillows to rugs to bath & dining linens, their pieces look like CANDY with amazing prints and colors.  Ever seen The Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo TV?  She has several Missoni pieces in her home, including her bedding.  One place I've found that carries a variety of Missoni home products is ALL MODERN.  I LOVE it all but here are some of my absolute FAVs...

The Janet Embroidered Bedspread & the Jo Bedding Collection...

They have several cushion collections, here are a few - Kew, Master Classico, and Passiflora...

The Josh Throw...

The Tappeti Winnipeg Contemporary Rug & Tappeti Liuwa Contemporary Rug...

The Giacomo Bath Mat...

I found some pieces at Amazon.com as well, and if you do a quick Google search it is really easy to find places that carry both Missoni clothing/accessories as well as Missoni Home.  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE their graphic prints and bold colors.  I am imagining white or light gray walls, lots of white & modern pieces, cool metallic accessories, mixed with some really rustic and antiquey feeling white-washed pieces.  YUM.  Anywho...need another house for this vision...

Snow, Snow, Snow!!!

We woke up this morning to MORE snow!?!  I thought we were maybe going to get a dusting but a few inches later...UGH.  We were supposed to go to Gymboree but it seems to keep snowing on Tuesday mornings and interfering with class...grrrrrr.  Maybe next week.  So, we tried sweet potatoes this morning...he gets SO excited eating in his chair now as you can tell...

We headed out after the snow stopped to Bentley's first helmet check-up and he has made excellent progress!  His original "flatness" (again, not medical terms...LOL) was 8 mm (which is really NADA because they have kids with over 20 mm!) and he is already down to 6 mm.  At our original appointment they told us no one's head is a perfect 0 mm but they hoped to get him down to 2 mm or so.  So after only 2 weeks they were very happy!

Tomorrow we start swimming (and class is before the next snow storm comes in so we shouldn't have any weather problems)!!

OBSESSED MUCH?

I admit that I am TOTALLY COMPLETELY UTTERLY OBSESSED with my child. :)  And I'm fine with it.  Here are some pics from the weekend...

He had a bit of a rough go of it at naptime.  I put him up in his crib wrapped up like a burrito...as usual...and he fussed for awhile...NOT like usual.  Eventually he quieted down and here's what we found upstairs...YES, he was breathing fine.

We went out to eat after our niece's christening and Bentley sat like a big boy in a high chair for the first time!  It was quite the reality check for me as he started pulling silverware off the table, grabbing plates, and chewing on a menu...so we had to clear the entire area in front of his little seat.

He got a little tired though and took a nap in his car seat...

This morning he was very happy as usual and rocked some serious helmet hair!
