So it's Sunday and we're riding out the storm inside, so I thought I'd update you on the last week - Bentley and I went to the Cape to spend some time with DeDe and Duppy. On Wednesday we hit Old Silver. Duppy filled a bucket of water for Bentley and he enjoyed playing for awhile...
We went for a swim (notice he is giving DeDe the "hairy eyeball" here)...
We spent some time on the beach before a nap attempt...DeDe and I thought for sure Bentley would be down for a nice long nap after so much fun at the beach so we lounged and lounged some more. Finally calling Dup to check in on the status back at the ranch, we found out the little bugger only slept for 20 minutes and had been wearing Dup out for the last few hours while we relaxed at the beach!
On Thursday we were going to head to the beach first thing with Bentley but decided to stick around the house for a bit instead - then later DeDe and I went for a nice "soak" while Dup stayed with Bentley. I had him all slathered up with sunscreen (hence the greasy look...) while he played with "dog" through the glass...and as soon as I opened the door to let Hurl in Bentley saw his chance to escape...
I had the perfect view of my boys, who were quite content, while catching some rays...
With the storm coming, DeDe and Dup had to head out to the harbor to secure the boat and bring in the dingy. Bentley helped Dup with the dingy...
Bentley and Hurl watched diligently as DeDe and Dup continued "batten down the hatches..."
We headed to the Flying Bridge for dinner, where Bentley enjoyed a goldfish appetizer followed by grilled cheese, a pickle, and some lemons. He even had a little vanilla ice cream. We had a nice dinner before the rain came in and fed the ducks in the harbor after. And somehow when we got home, the little man was still hungry...
Friday we headed to Chappy for some fun in the sun and it was certainly the calm before the storm. The guards and parking lot attendants were off, the town was removing 'stuff' from the beach - like the lifeguard chairs and trash containers, and there were only a few stragglers around, including us! The water was beautiful and Bentley took a dip in his float. He played in the sand and FINALLY caved into the deliciousness of watermelon...
Before we headed home I grabbed some groceries at W. Falmouth Market and stocked up the car. It was SO packed that this is how Hurley rode home!
Today we have just been waiting for Irene to pass. There has been little excitement. We lost power for about 2 hours and other than that a few small branches and some tree debris down - that's about it! I'm happy to report we are unscathed by Irene at Casa de Strazz!
